It has been previously stated that the Skin Like Iron pre-orders were planned to be shipping in early March. In a turn of events that seems absolutely unprecedented for small, independent labels, the release has been slightly delayed. Not to worry though, all of the pre-orders should be filled before the end of the month and Skin Like Iron's "All Human Failings" should be available in most major distros by then as well. So you keep your seatbelt on. Those of you who pre-ordered will surely be pleased by the end result. If not I question your personal taste.

Just because Free Cake is delayed with the records, doesn't mean that the band didn't manage to stay on schedule. Skin Like Iron has had the record available since their west coast stint with Ceremony, which was a triumphant success. They had two limited versions available at these shows, the first being a record release version on blue vinyl, and the second being a tour press on black vinyl. Both of these had limited screenprinted covers (the tour cover is visible within this update).

The record release version is long gone, but the band has a hot few tour versions left (and when I say few, I mean few). Get a move on and e-mail paulxehat@gmail.com for ordering information.

Free Cake is giddy to announce that our next release will be a 7" for the sickos in Mature Situations from near Canada. Mature Situations is a snotty, geriatric-themed punk group featuring Chris Colohan (Cursed, Left for Dead, The Swarm, Sly and the Family Stone) on the skins.

Mature Situations was borne of the need to trivialize the grievances and tribulations of the elderly, (in a sexual manner where possible), so as to anger karma and preemptively flip off the inevitable pants-shitting, Viagra-snorting, hip-replacing, sour-milk-smelling future of all men. The Cracked Pelvis EP will be out on Free Cake by May 2009.

In further news, Skin Like Iron's "All Human Failings" 12" should be shipping by the beginning of March. This is shaping up to be a wholly solid release, and we are still taking pre-orders. Don't hesitate to scoop up a copy. You will be glad you did.

We are now taking pre-orders for Skin Like Iron's "All Human Failings" 12"EP. This release offers the band's most progressive material to date. Musically, the band has assimilated their diverse stylistic influences in a more cohesive manner than ever before. The subtle, driving melodies, and pounding rhythms that the band hinted at on previous releases are now honed to perfection.

The lyrics offer a seething and grim perspective on humanity's obsessive quest for destruction. While conceding that isolation, violence, and basic human inadequacies have all propelled a decline and detachment amongst humanity, the lyrics remain hopeful, as they chase the notion that escape is possible.
